Explore the history of Tunisia on this half-day tour to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said from Tunis. First you’ll visit Carthage, founded in 814 B.C. The earliest settlements can still be seen on Byrsa Hill, just below the renowned Carthage National Museum. See the remains of two port basins, evidence of Carthaginian mastery of the sea. Discover the Tophet, a burial ground and a sanctuary of ancient deities.
Continue to Sidi Bou Said, a 5-kilometer drive from Carthage. This picturesque town is perched high on a cliff top overlooking the Mediterranean.
Stroll through winding cobbled streets, and admire the whitewashed buildings with contrasting blue doors and ornate window grids. Wander around the boutiques and shop for souvenirs, or relax in a Moorish cafe. Afterwards you’ll be dropped off back in Tunis.
